ARC/GNY LIFEGUARD TRAINING

Prerequisite:

  1. 15 years of age by the last day of class
  2. Able to swim 300 yards continuously using:
  3. Swim 20 yards front crawl or breaststroke, retrieve a 10-pound object from a depth of 7- 10 feet, return it to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object within a designated of 1 min 40 sec.
Description:
If you are 15 years or older, with an American Red Cross Lifeguarding you can get the great summer job or a challenging career. Lifeguarding course is designed to help you develop the skills and experience valued by colleges and future employers. You'll develop new skills and learn how to deal effectively with people, responsibility, and leadership. With a combination of privation and safety, you as a lifeguard will create a safe environment for yourself and everyone around you. The new Lifeguard Course materials incorporates the most recent science applied to Lifeguard skills, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and, as well as the use of the A.E.D.

Course Certification:
Payment of the course fee is not a guarantee of certification. Lifeguard Training and First Aid, 3 years; CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer 1 year. To receive this American Red Cross certificate you:


Remember:
Dress comfortably; CPR First Aid skills are practiced on the floor in a kneeling position. The class involves a lot of moving around during classroom work and typically there will be a pool sessions per day. Participants must bring a swimsuit and towels each day.
